Keio University (www.keio.jp), established in 1858, founded by FUkuzawa Yukichi, is one of the oldest institutes of modern higher education in Japan. Founder Fukuzawa Yukichi originally established Keio University as a school for Western studies in 1858 in Edo. It has eleven campuses in Tokyo and Kanagawa. Now, it has ten faculties: Letters, Economics, Law, Business and Commerce, Medicine, Science and Technology, Policy Management, Environment and Information Studies, Nursing and Medical Care, and Pharmacy. In 2022, it also absorbs Tokyo Dental Collage as faculty of Dental Science.
The CoE is organized and managed as a part of Ambient Intelligence Research Center, faculty of science and technology, Keio University, and mainly organized in WestLab, department of system design, and Prof. Hiroaki Nishi conducting this CoE. Prof. Kubo, department of electronics and electrical engineering, Prof. Yuichi Nakamura, Waseda University, and Kanae Matsui, Tokyo Denki University are also the member of this CoE.
These members are also active in IEEE-IES Standardization Committee. This laboratory is contributing to the definition of the IEEE 1451 family of standards, especially promoting IEEE P21451-1-6 and other concerning working group activities.
